E-waste is a growing problem in India and in the world. When old electronics are not disposed properly, they can leak toxins out into landfills and most parts are non biodegradable. After realising that we live in the same city, we decided to pair up and make a video that focused on e-waste management systems in our city, feeding into a larger global conversation about needing to reduce the e-waste we generate. Through research we came across an organisation that was called Kshmaa Technologies, and reached out to them. Kshmaa is focused on repairing old and discarded electronic devices, hoping to extend their longevity. We were able to interview one of the founders of Kshmaa and tour their facility, helping us better understand the work that they are doing. We amalgamated all our findings into a video that hopes to inform people about the e-waste crisis, using Kshmaa as a case study, and encourages people to recycle and reuse more.
