Delivering Healthcare in Conflict Zones

In the 21st century, the rise in conflicts has resulted in the displacement of millions of civilians worldwide. Refugees are often disintegrated from the societies they move to and face several barriers that reduce their quality of life. Health care accessibility is among the largest issues they are faced with. While the right to health is thought to be universal, there are often numerous structural and physical barriers that prevent accessibility. Access to comprehensive, quality health care services is important for promoting and maintaining health and preventing and managing disease. Health care is conventionally regarded as an important determinant in promoting the well-being of people around the world. Populations in conflict zones are especially deprived of quality health care despite being one of the most at-risk groups for mental and physical well-being. In this presentation, we explore the different approaches towards delivering health care in conflict zones.
